HOLY WEEK
March 30th, 2021
HELLO AND WELCOME
TO HOLY WEEK
Although our church buildings
must remain closed for a
little while longer, the Church
is very much alive.
Each week Sunday Worship is
available on this page prepared by
our Minister Revd Frances
and other members of the worship team.
Holy week begins with Jesus’ triumphal
entry into Jerusalem seated on a donkey
and accompanied by his friends, the
Disciples, and a host of people on pilgrimage
to the Temple to celebrate the Jewish
Festival of Passover
Jesus continues his ministry to the
people and gathers with his own friends
to celebrate what has become known as
The Lord’s Supper (Holy communion)
on Maundy Thursday
Later that night Jesus is betrayed
by one of his friends and arrested.
The next day (now known as Good Friday),
Jesus is sent for trial to the Roman Governor
Pontius Pilate who asks Jesus what crime
he has committed. when Jesus refuses to
answer, and to satisfy the religious leaders
and the rowdy crown that had gathered, Pilate
sentences Jesus to a beating and death by
the horrendous Roman practice of Crucifixion.
A Meditation has been prepared
to help us commemorate the
crucifixion of Jesus on Good Friday
and can be accessed by
clicking on the link below.
A celebration of Jesus’ Resurrection
on Easter Day will appear on this page
on Sunday 4th April
