\nHELLO AND WELCOME
\nTO HOLY WEEK<\/span>
\nAlthough our church buildings
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

must remain closed for a<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

little while longer, the Church<\/span><\/p>\n

is very much alive.<\/span>
\n Each week Sunday Worship is <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

available on this page prepared by<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

our Minister Revd Frances<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

and other members of the worship team.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Holy week begins with Jesus\u2019 triumphal <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

entry\u00a0 into Jerusalem seated on a donkey
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

and accompanied by his friends, the <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Disciples, <\/span><\/span><\/span>and a host of people on pilgrimage <\/span><\/p>\n

to the <\/span>Temple to celebrate the Jewish <\/span><\/p>\n

Festival of Passover<\/span><\/p>\n

Jesus continues his ministry <\/span>to the <\/span><\/p>\n

people and gathers with his own <\/span>friends<\/span><\/p>\n

to celebrate\u00a0what has become known as<\/span><\/p>\n

The Lord’s Supper (Holy communion)<\/span><\/p>\n

on Maundy Thursday<\/span><\/p>\n

Later that night Jesus is betrayed <\/span><\/p>\n

by one of his friends and <\/span>arrested.<\/span><\/p>\n

The next day (now known as Good Friday),<\/span><\/p>\n

Jesus is sent for trial to the Roman <\/span>Governor<\/span><\/p>\n

Pontius Pilate who asks Jesus what crime<\/span><\/p>\n

he has committed.\u00a0 when Jesus refuses to<\/span><\/p>\n

answer, and to satisfy the religious leaders<\/span><\/p>\n

and the rowdy crown that had gathered, Pilate<\/span><\/p>\n

sentences Jesus to a beating and death by<\/span><\/p>\n

the horrendous Roman practice of Crucifixion. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n

crucifixion of Jesus on Good Friday<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
